Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what personal information Online Addict (K2023278779) collects, why, who we share it with and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
1. Who is responsible

2. What we collect
- Details you give us: your name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing address, and any messages you send us.
- Order details: what you bought, when, how much you paid and delivery status. Card details are handled by our payment provider — we never see or store your full card number.
- Your account: your login details, saved addresses, wishlist and order history.
- Cart details: if you add items to your cart and give us your email (at checkout or by being logged in), we save that cart so you can come back to it.
- How you use the site: pages viewed, searches, device and browser type, and approximate location (city level), collected through cookies and similar tools.
3. Why we use it
- to process, deliver and track your orders, and to handle returns and refunds;
- to give customer service and answer your questions;
- to send order updates and, if you leave items in your cart, up to two reminders about it;
- to send newsletters and special offers — only if you signed up, and you can unsubscribe any time;
- to prevent fraud and keep the site secure;
- to understand how the site is used so we can improve it;
- to meet our legal obligations (for example tax and consumer-protection records).
We process your information because it is needed to fulfil our contract with you, because we have a legitimate interest in running and improving our store, because the law requires it, or because you have given your consent (which you may withdraw at any time).
4. Who we share it with
We never sell your personal information. We only share what is needed with:
- couriers — your name, phone number and address, to deliver your order;
- payment providers — to process your payment securely;
- our approved sellers — only the order details they need to prepare the products you bought;
- service providers that help us run the store (website hosting, email, analytics) under agreements that protect your information;
- authorities, when the law requires it.
Some service providers (for example email or analytics services) may store information outside South Africa. We only use providers in countries or under agreements that give your information adequate protection, as POPIA requires.
5. Cookies
Cookies keep your cart and login working and help us see how the site is used. Where we use analytics or marketing cookies, we ask for your consent first. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser — the cart and checkout need some cookies to work.
6. Emails you can switch off
Every marketing and cart-reminder email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Order and delivery emails are part of your purchase, so they keep coming while you have an order with us.
7. How long we keep it
- Saved carts are deleted after 60 days.
- Order and invoice records are kept for as long as tax and consumer law require (usually 5 years).
- Your account stays until you ask us to close it.
8. How we protect it
Our site uses encryption (HTTPS), payments are handled by PCI-DSS compliant providers, and only staff who need your information can access it. If a security breach ever affects your information, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
9. Your rights
You may ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct or update it;
- delete it, where we don’t need to keep it by law;
- stop using it for marketing, or object to how we use it.
Email sales@onlineaddict.co.za and we’ll respond within a reasonable time (usually within 30 days). If you’re unhappy with how we handle your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
10. Children
Our store is meant for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 18 without a parent’s or guardian’s consent.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page.
